October 19, 2020

Cheyenne Public Schools is making every effort to remain open during the continuation of the COVID-19 Pandemic.  As we enter into winter activities, we will be facing one of our biggest challenges yet.  As fans pour into gymnasiums on these cold winter evenings, CPS will ask all spectators to properly wear a mask.  This is to help protect our student population, our visitors, and ourselves.  We also ask to continue social distancing as able and utilize the student lounge for concessions when needed.  We should also utilize the seating on the home and visitor’s sides when available.

Not all home games are crowded, not all referees need yelled at, but we all should consciously make an effort to do what we can to make sure student activities continue throughout the upcoming season.  We have adapted and adjusted this first quarter and we are looking forward to what opportunities the remainder of the semester has to bring our students.

The students of CPS have made great efforts to make sure they are and will receive in-person learning.  We all agree the number one purpose of school is student learning.  The other half of academics is extra-curricular activities.  Whether it may be FFA, Band, Choir, One-Act, Academic Bowl, or Athletics, students having the opportunity to participate in these activities is where many life lessons and memories are made.

The Spring of 2020 did not meet any of our expectations and we do not want to be in that position again.  CPS has made the commitment to wear masks and adhere to many other safe and healthy protocols so that we may complete a successful school year.  To meet our goals, we need your help.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,
