 SCHOOL BUS RULES

Previous To Loading: (On the road and at school)

Be careful in approaching bus stops.
Be on time at the designated school bus stops to help keep the bus on schedule.
Stay off the road at all times while watiting for the bus. Bus riders shall conduct themselves in a safe manner while waiting.
Bus riders are not permitted to move toward the bus loading zone until the bus comes to a complete stop.
Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before attemping to enter.

While on the Bus:

Keep hands and head inside the bus at all times.
Assist in keeping the bus safe and sanitary at all times.
Remember that loud talking and laughing or unnecessary confusion diverts the driver's attention and may result in a serious accident.
Treat bus equipment as you would valuable furniture in your own home. Damages to any bus must be paid for by offenders.
Bus riders should never tamper with bus equipment.
Leave no books, lunches, or other articles on the bus.
Keep books, packages, coats, and other objects out of the aisles.
Help look after the safety and comfort of small children.
Do not throw anything out of the bus window.
Bus riders are not permitted to leave their seats while bus is in motion.
Horse play is not permitted around or on the bus.
Bus riders are expected to be courteous to fellow pupils, bus drivers and assistants.
In case of road emergency, children are to remain in the bus.

After Leaving the Bus:

Cross the road, when necessary, at least ten feet in front of the bus after getting off but only after looking at driver and receiving a signal to cross the road.
Help look after the safety and comfort of small children.
Be alert to the danger signal from the driver.

Extra-Curricular Trips:

The above rules and regulations will apply to any trip under school sponsorship.
Pupils shall respect the wishes of a competent chaperone appointed by the school.
Students who willfully disobey bus rider rules will not be permitted to represent the school in activities.

Bus Misconduct:

Failure to obey bus rider rules of conduct may cause a revocation of bus riding privileges for a period of time deemed necessary by the principal(s) in addition to other possible disciplinary action. Bus misbehavior is a very serious offense as it affects the safety of the driver and all other students on the bus.
