Our heart is heavy for the families and children of our community and our neighboring community. We have faced several staggering losses recently and it seems like the hurt of those losses touches so very many young lives. Our community and our children are resilient and we come together in hard times, but the isolation and upheaval caused by this pandemic makes coping with grief extraordinarily difficult.
I wanted to share some resources available for anyone looking for individual counseling or grief processing groups.
Linked below is a list of resources in the area. I would like to highlight the following:
- Information on Calm Waters (an OKC grief support center) is on the attached list. They offer free virtual student grief support groups to teach kids coping skills and to help students and families not feel alone in their grief. I have heard amazing things about their student support groups.
- In this list of resources are some area counselors and local grief support groups, if you would like your student to talk with someone in person
- We also have counselors that meet with kids at school. If you would like to arrange for your student to see a counselor at school, please contact me.
Please let me know if you have any questions about any of these resources.
