COUNSELOR'S CORNER

Dixie

I have been in education for 33 years as a mathematics and computer science teacher and now as a school counselor. My husband, Brian, is also a member of the Bear family as a coach. We have two children, Curtis and Sydnee, three dogs and one cat.

I am having an amazing experience as the PK-12th grade school counselor at CPS. I am so proud to be a Cheyenne Bear.

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

We continue to be committed to maintaining a focused, connected, and distraction-free learning environment. In alignment with Senate Bill 139, which mandates that all public schools in Oklahoma restrict student use of personal electronic devices during the school day, just a reminder of our cell phone policy.

All students will be expected to keep personal electronic devices turned off and out of sight (in lockers or vehicles) during the school day—from their arrival at school to the last bell.

This includes:
Cell phones
Smartwatches / smart glasses
Earbuds / headphones
iPods or personal music devices
Any device that connects to the internet or cellular network (gaming devices etc)

Student drivers with signed parent permission for off campus lunch WILL be allowed to take cell phones off campus as well as junior/senior student aides running off-campus errands.

Exceptions apply to school day field trips (e.g., ballgames), where phone use may be permitted at times.

Communication During the Day:
If a student needs to contact a parent/guardian, they may request to use the office phone only. Likewise, families needing to reach a student during the school day should contact the school office directly.

For questions, please contact Mrs. Moore or Mrs. Chalfant.
